Dr Muhammad Asif is a Lecturer in Sustainable and Renewable Energy Technologies at Glasgow Caledonian University, UK. He completed BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology Lahore in 1997. Having completed MSc in Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Technology from the University of Liverpool in 1999, he achieved his PhD in Applied Energy Engineering from Edinburgh Napier University in 2002. He holds the status of Chartered Engineer and is actively involved in research and industrial collaborations. His areas of expertise include renewable energy, energy conservation and management, energy policy, energy security and sustainable development. He has extensively worked on global energy policy issues with particular reference to the EU, USA, Middle East and Pakistan. He has authored over 40 research articles and five book chapters. His work on solar energy has been covered under two chapters in the Encyclopedia of Energy Engineering and Technology. He sits on the editorial board of a number of international journals. He has been invited as keynote speaker at a number of international energy policy forums. Some of the prominent partners he has worked with include Higher Education Commission (Pakistan), European Commission, BAE Systems (UK), Grameen Shakti (Bangladesh) and Nor-Dan (Norway).
